The Central Library

The Central Library at BITS, Pilani – Hyderabad Campus is a gateway to knowledge resources. Since its establishment in September 2008, the library is functioning in a makeshift arrangement with 3500 sqft area. Our exclusive library building with two floors (45000 sqft) is under construction. The new library building is expected to be ready by 2010.
The library has collection of 6500+books and subscribes to over 75 Indian and 40 foreign periodicals. The library began with a core collection of 1800 books. The collection of the library is growing by the day. We are planning to add other collections to the library in near future which will includes CDs, audio/video cassettes etc.
Students can have access to e-books and previous years’ examination question papers of various courses offered at BITS through our Digital Library.

On-line e-journals: Students can have access to large number of digital resources including science Direct, ASCE,ASME, IEEE xplore on-line journals, Economist, DOAJ etc. For more details please contact the staff in the Library.

WIFI @ Central Library: Free wireless internet access is available in the library. Getting online is quick and simple. All you need is a wireless enabled laptop computer. The Library s WIFI service is open to all bonafide visitors to the library.
The library is fully computerized and the catalogue of resources and books can now be accessed online from any place through the campus network. Students can check the status of issued books, and due dates through the network using the online library management systems. It allows the students the ease of accessing the library right from their hostel rooms.
The Central Library is equipped with the most modern furniture and is specially designed taking into consideration the future growth of the library collection and needs of the users in the coming years. The present seating capacity is about 120, which is likely expand in near future. Students are encouraged to use the library as a reading room. Students can bring in their own books and reference materials to study individually. For the convenience of the students the library is open 7 days a week.
