Research is an important academic activity at BITS and a large number of students at all levels of the educational programmes are involved in research that exploits the multidisciplinary educational base emerging out of the broad-based integrated education in engineering, science and humanities. Strong emphasis is laid on interdisciplinary, mission-oriented and relevant research.

The Practice School, which is an important component of the integrated programmes of BITS, provides an opportunity to identify research problems relevant to industrial needs. The participation of students and the faculty members in research ensures a team effort towards problem solving activities.

Such a total involvement of the faculty as well as the student population integrate the research and teaching activities of the Institute in such a manner than they draw strength and support from each other.
